Passwords, they're a pain to remember, but if you've chosen an easy to remember password and it appears on this list, then you should probably change it straight away.
People are still picking insecure passwords, so insecure in fact that if you simply close your eyes and run your finger across the top of a keyboard, you could probably guess somebody's password. Insecure passwords make it easy for hackers to get into your online password protected accounts, whether its your online banking, email or your social network account.
The worst password in 2015 by far was 123456 according to SplashData and the only password that is as bad as this is "password" - seriously the mind boggles. Other passwords include 12345678, 12345, 123456789 and 1234567. People are also choosing passwords from the next row of keys on the keyboard, such as "qwerty" or choosing words such as "football". Star Wars references such as "princess", "solo" and "starwars" are also coming in the top 25.
SplashData's advice is to use long passwords which are different for every website. Use phrases or use password managers such as LassPass, 1Password, or SplashID by SplashData to store secure passwords that you don't need to remember to be able to use.
Anyway, without further ado here's the list
I hate passwords myself and its a real bind to remember the 17 billion passwords for all your online accounts but that doesn't mean you should use insecure passwords. Seriously use a password manager such as Lastpass, you only have one master password to remember, it generates and stores secure passwords for all your online accounts so you don't have to remember any of them. Yes password managers can be hacked but I would rather put my trust in Lastpass as they quickly respond to and proactively fix any vulnerabilities rather than companies such as Talk Talk who don't take the security of customers data seriously.
